This book is very good but also very dark. I have read her other book which is completely different and very lighthearted so I was not anticipating how deep this book is. It’s really interesting to me to look at past experiences as a child and the differences they have in class and race and how that plays out in this kidnapping experience. I was not able to figure out everything that was happening but I was actually able to figure out a lot so it’s not much of a mystery as much as it is a Dark story that explores whether love is really love or more Stockholm syndrome as well as looking at how childhood memories can cause lasting harm.
