Notes from Underground by Fyodor Dostoevsky

2.0

Despite it's short length, I really struggled to get through this. I've read Russian literature in the past and enjoyed it, including the 900+ page Anna Karenina, but this failed to spark an interest in me.

It's a short piece in two parts - the first a rant, a man living underground sharing his opinions on everything that crosses his mind. The second, a few episodes from his younger days, showing the man to be disliked, poor and arrogant.

I just disliked the character from the start and couldn't maintain much enthusiasm for the story. I know it's a classic but it just wasn't for me.
