First of all, let's admire this cover... a work of art! I’m kind of late to the party here but why did no one tell me of the greatness that is this book?! I loved it from beginning to end. I love a fun and quirky yet mature main character in YA (young adult) novels. I had moments of squealing, laughing, and smiling to myself like a weirdo. I especially loved how the romance felt secondary in the story, not taking away the shine from the rest of Izumi's journey.
Likes: Japanese representation, family dynamics, cultural identity crisis, strong female character, forbidden love & slight enemies to lovers, supportive friend group, plot twist, feminism
Dislikes: slightly dramatic led-by-emotions moments, but it’s to be expected and it wasn’t that bad!
