The Aloha Quilt by Jennifer Chiaverini

4.0

I think it's amazing how one book can incorporate spousal abuse, extra-marital affairs, and Hawaiian history and culture and center this eclectic mix of topics around quilting. It is an authentic slice of life reading "The Aloha Quilt" and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Whenever I pick up a book in Chiaverini's series, I feel like I'm catching up with old friends, and this book was no exception. What is even better, is that I come away from her books feeling as though I've learned something. She does justice to the Hawaiian culture in providing an objective history of the state, and though I'm sure it is lacking in depth, it has peaked my curiosity and interest in the state.
