Deadly Waters by Dot Hutchison

Did not finish book.
I really got into [b:The Butterfly Garden|29981261|The Butterfly Garden (The Collector, #1)|Dot Hutchison|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1461392121l/29981261._SX50_.jpg|47426931] series by this author, read all four of those books. I was struggling to get into this one though. Listening to the audio (part of KindleUnlimited, audio and text) and my mind kept wandering, I was getting distracted. All the "suitemate" statements ... I've really not heard that term! I mean it's obvious, but I guess "roommate" has always been the term I've heard. "Flatmate" if British. Maybe I'm just out of the loop. Silly thing to get stuck on, I know! It was just said a LOT, over and over.

The narrator accent wasn't quite on (when we were in certain character's heads, there wasn't an accent for the most part). I'd just feel the Southern slip a bit here and there. I lived a pretty innocent college life, so with this being so focused on the girls going to bars and drinking and getting hit on when they don't want to and hookers ... ehhh, just not feeling it. And that was before the alligators!

As mentioned, my mind kept wandering. I was having a hard time keeping track of the characters or caring about them and just 20% in I felt like I'd either have to restart the audio, or read the text myself to refocus on the story ... and I just didn't feel like doing either. Maybe another time/place I would have finished. I'm trying not to feel guilty about DNFs anymore - life is too short and there are too many books out there!
