This was a quick read and is a really slow burn that is focused on character development, but honestly, the characters, specifically the main characters of Sam and Fiona stay as one-dimensional as they started. I also could not stand the vapidness and utter ignorance of Sam. There are two negative interactions that happen with Fiona that Sam is around for and his response is dripping with no empathy and blaming Fiona for her rightful reactions (another woman telling Fiona she can't drink because she incorrectly believes she was in rehab and an ex-lover touching Fiona without her permission.) Both times Sam's response is disgusting. He straight up views this first interaction as if this is some catfight and asks Fiona if she just doesn't like other women/are jealous of other women even though she was outright insulted by the said woman and when a man decides to wrap their hands around her waist and squeeze without her permission, Fiona is the one overreacting in his opinion. Yuck. And yet, this is the one that she wants to be with? Nah.
