The Beauty of Living Twice
by Sharon Stone
In this meandering, stream-of consciousness memoir, Sharon Stone focuses on her health, family, and recovery from emotional trauma. This book is not a juicy tell-all; in fact, there is very little about her film career, only tid-bits here and there as they relate to the broader topics she wants to explore. Stone has a lot to say about her childhood, her parents, raising her own children, and the nearly fatal health scare that dramatically changed her career and world view. The book is not linear, but rather organized into thematic chapters where she moves from anecdote to anecdote in free-associative fashion. Though not what I was expecting, the book is earnest and warm-hearted.
