In the first instalment of the Charlie Travesty serial we are introduced to Charlotte Travesty who lives in a city ruled by vampires in a mansion as a member of the royal vampire family. On her 23rd birthday she experiences her awakening when a vampires eyes change colour. This colour dictates the individuals standing in society and where they live. However when Charlottes eyes turn lavender, it reveals that she is half-human and half-vampire, therefore she is exiled by her family and sent off to fend for herself.

Honestly I don’t have a lot to say as this is the first part of a serial so it’s pretty short. I found parts of this to be a little info-dumpy, there was so much information packed into short paragraphs which could be a little overwhelming. However I really liked the main character, she is naïve and has a lot to learn about how the world works as she lived in luxury before. We were also introduced to other characters such as Drew, for some reason I don’t trust him and I have a feeling he may betray Charlie in the future. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next instalment with her character as at the end of this part a new character was introduced who I’m assuming is going to be a love interest.

Overall this is a decent start to an adult paranormal romance serial with an intriguing main character so I can’t wait to read the next instalment.
