One of my favorite books this year. It’s deliciously witchy and dark and natural. The imagery of the natural flora and fauna is beautiful and so lush.
Something that I really liked was how similar the three stories were while still being entirely distinct and unique scenarios. The repeated plot points and motifs did a beautiful job of tying the three characters in a way that underscores the cyclical, dynastic way. I really thought the themes that reappeared had enough subtlety to not have you go “here we go again” when they’d emerge.
If you’re a fan of magical, feminist, historical fiction then this is a must-read.
