I won't rate this because I found it too uncomfortable to finish. The premise is interesting, and initially it had a "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents" feel (only more mature in tone), but it devolved quickly into a lot of dark, violent, very HUMAN behaviours that just felt awful when applied to dogs.
The writing is excellent and very evocative, but this was painful. By 3/4 way through, I'd had enough.
