The Code Girl From London: A WWII Historical Fiction Novel by Deb Stratas, Deb Stratas
hopeful
relaxing
medium-paced
3.0
This was one of the better self-published books I've read in a while, but still needed some decent editing. I hadn't read the other books in the trilogy, and whilst this worked fine as a standalone, I'm not sure now I could go back and read the others because I know too much about how it all worked out.
The title and the blurb suggested this was going to be much more about the work that the main character was doing during the war, and the tough secrets she needed to keep about it, but in reality the job was of secondary or even lesser importance. This was essentially a romance, wrapped up in war to build suspense and concern for if the characters would make it, but there was little ultimate tension.
A quick, light read but nothing more
