The Locked Door by Freida McFadden

3.0

3.5 ⭐️ I’ve read a total of 5 books from Freida and I think I like this one the most. The plot itself is very compelling, with many psychological aspects, morally gray characters and their internal battles that I followed with a huge interest. The main character was different, more distant, and at first she seemed boring to me until I realized that there is a reason why she is so reserved, cold and even a bit weird. As with all of Freida McFadden's books, this one stuck to the author's so-called formula. The way the story progresses forces you to point fingers at the wrong suspects for like 80% throughout the book and after reading a few Freida McFadden’s books you can very easily realise that all this pushing in the wrong direction is on purpose and once you learn to see those similarities in the books - you lose that whole moment of surprise and therefore it makes the plot twist pretty much nonexistent. The twist, as I expected, was extremely blunt. Extremely illogical, cartoonish and frustrating. I knew it would be like this and yet - it had so much potential, honestly it makes me a bit annoyed.
