Pleating for Mercy by Melissa Bourbon

4.0

Small town, Butch Cassidy's family line, and magic all in a cozy mystery. Yes, please.

Bliss, TX is the stage for this mystery. Harlow returns home to run her own dressmakers shop. She wonders if her shop will take off since she had been gone from home for a while. All the females in the family each have their gifts. Harlow knows hers was skipped and she doesn't discover it until later. Her high school friend, Josie has asked her to make her wedding dress and all the bridesmaid dresses. When all the wedding party is there, chaos ensues. A body is found in her backyard. Harlow sets out to solve the murder so that the wedding can go on. The characters in this small town are lovable and quirky. Harlow meets Will (the handyman) and there are sparks.

At first, Harlow doesn't trust anyone that she comes in contact with which was a little annoying since she grew up in Bliss. But as the story goes on, she realizes that she has to trust some people to have friendships. I loved the charms that each female character in the family has. By the end of the story, I really enjoyed it. I will read more of this series.
