The best way to sum up my thoughts on this book is to say that I liked the story, and didn't love the story-telling.
Beyond seemingly not knowing any synonyms for the word "groan", the author jumps back and forth between past and present more than Marty McFly. It seems that the FMC can't maintain a conversation without constantly living inside a memory. After a certain point, that nostalgia, reminiscing, and daydreaming felt clunky and tedious, getting in the way of the actual plot that was happening.
That being said, I did enjoy the story. While a bit predictable at times, and slightly frustrating actions (or inaction) from FMC, the dynamics of the whole friend group felt real and relatable, and the story moved fast enough to be enjoyable.
