This was a solid 4.5 star read for me. Harley and Liam in many ways feel like a coming of age read even though they aren’t really. I think it’s because they’re discovering (or reconnecting with/rediscovering) themselves. Harley needs the time, space, and push the summer art program provides to allow this to happen. Liam needs it as just as desperately but for entirely different reasons. The biggest problem is that embracing something new usually means letting go. Sometimes it means saying goodbye to something we cling fiercely to. The greatest beauty and transformation comes in those periods of discomfort and growth. It’s never easy, but Kandi captures with these two how worth it it is.
