Ilium by Dan Simmons
5.0
Exhaustively research for fans of literature (specifically the Iliad and the Tempest, with many references to others) but also entertaining and well-worth reading for those who aren't familiar with them, the story is well crafted and enormously entertaining. Dan Simmons covers multiple seemingly unrelated plot threads which come together at the end. His characterization of both original characters and of infamous figures like Achilles and Hector is probably the book's strongest point.
