Opposite of Always by Justin A. Reynolds

5.0

Opposite of Always was a phenomenal read that I couldn’t help but just blast through. Justin A Reynolds’ humor made this story truly an enjoyable read for me. The banter between the characters had me hooked from the very start, and it never really let up. It was witty, it was exciting, and at times it was even romantic. The romance between main characters was always so fun and flirtatious, which is something that can be difficult for authors to maintain. However, Reynolds maintained this wonderfully!

Another aspect I truly enjoyed in this book was how we learned about the main characters throughout the story. Nothing was ever revealed all at once, or even soon enough. You had to wait for it, and I adored that aspect. I saw this most with the main character’s friends, Franny and Jillian. At first, we didn’t know too much about them. We got snippets here and there; but as the story continued, we learned more and more about dynamics and their background. This is where the time-traveling aspect of this story really shined for me. As time reset and our leading character had to go through these events all over again, we saw an emphasis on Jillian or Franny than gave us a deeper insight to them as a reader.

Opposite of Always quickly became a new favorite of mine. I blasted through pages and knew this was something special. It was witty, it was flirty, it was fun, and it was equal parts heartbreaking and heartwarming. All around it was a wonderful piece of work and I was so happy to have read it! Most definitely recommend to any lover of contemporary.
