Honestly, no complaints about this book from me. I thought it was very well wrtitten, and it was easy to connect with the characters and get sucked into the story. Only one thing:
Having lost my father as well, I guess I don't quite understandwhy Monique would have been so angry about Evelyn's whole revelation that James was not driving the car. For example, if a loved one died of lung cancer, does it matter that it possibly could have been avoided if they quit smoking? Not really, because once they're gone, that's not super important to me. I understand why Evelyn did what she did. She knew James was dead, and she knew that Harry, at least at that point, was not. So she did what she needed to do to protect her husband and the father of her child. It would be different if there was a chance James was still alive and would have to live with the consequences. So I don't know. To that end, I kind of liked that Monique was a little angry, but not overly so. I was glad that detail did not dominate the story from that point on.
My main complaint is that we didn't get enough of Monique's life. It would have been nice to see how the loss of her father impacted her life over the years, and to learn more about Monique. Same with Celia. She just didn't get that much depth, so it was harder to love her the way those around her did.
