This Is Why They Hate Us by Aaron H. Aceves
5.0
can’t believe this is a fucking debut novel!?? i loved every second of it. one of the most diverse books ive ever read. i loved the friend group, i loved how they were always there for each other. i loved the very sensitive topics that were discussed and covered with care. i loved the parents and how supportive and understanding they were of enrique.
enrique’s mental health struggles, his thought process and everything was something i also struggle with and i felt so fucking seen and heard in this book so much i connected so much with him. i loved every second of enrique coming into his queerness and exploring his sexuality. i loved how sex positive this book was too.
i loved everyone that helped enrique along the way and i loved saleem and enrique’s dynamic and interactions i was left needing and wanting more! you could tell how much they really loved each other
i think everyone could get something out of this book weather it’s about this history of palestine, the struggles queer people and people of colour go through, mental health etc, there is something in here for everyone. definitely a must read book for sure.
