This graphic novel was amazing. I did not think I would feel so many emotions in any book, but especially not in a graphic novel. The March sisters are part of a blended family but that does not weaken the bond between the sisters. They each had very distinct personalities and each experienced their own highs and lows in this book. This is all framed by the fact that their father is serving overseas in the US military and their mom works really hard as a nurse to support them. I laughed, I cried, my heart hurt, and it felt full, all in the span of 256 pages. The sisters all learned more about each other and themselves as issues such as racism, sexism, gender identity, bullying, and having a life threatening illness were all explored. I highly recommend this for everyone, but especially middle-to high school age. I am looking forward to checking out other works by these authors and artists.
