The Traitor Baru Cormorant by Seth Dickinson

So this book took me a lot of time to finish. I genuinely felt the "accountant" part was a bit new and dragging. I wouldn't blame the book for it, I usually start books slowly and finish second half so fast. So it's my fault...so the book was nice? No. I am feeling mixed. The prose style wasn't really my cup of tea. I was reading a feast for crows along with this and that really made it hard for me to read this book. Apart from prose, what do I think of the story? I think it's good, not bad, not as good as I wanted it to be. I loved the idea of the book, which was a female protagonist who is trying to destroy a empire from within. I expected so much more emotions from this book, I really got it from last three chapters but I wish it made me feel something throughout the book, wether its negative or positive emotions. I also found some of the technical stuff intresting, I think thats where this book was strong. This series is about war, like manu fantasy books but I felt like they could have delt war and rebellion with more empathy? In a way, what it costs for many people. I felt like all that was ignored. Also apart from few characters, most characters felt like they weren't flushed out? Again I think it's because it only follows Baru. I liked few characters, not going to lie, I cared about them to an extent. For a debut book, this is great but overall, this book didn't hit me the way I wished it did.
