Cilka's journey
Heather Morris
For a long time, I didn't know what to say about this book. Books like this one don't need many words because all there is to say is already in them. And even though I know this story is not 100 percent accurate due to lack of resources, it was beautiful.
It was a story of a strong young woman who went through so much. Auschwitz and then Soviet gulag. I can't even begin to understand how much that must have affected her life after these events. Yet, she was able to find strength in herself to help others.
I have NEVER read a novel about someone so selfless and caring for other people. She made it work with so little. Everything she gained or had an opportunity to have, she gave it away for someone else.
This book was fast-paced and very nicely written, the theme considered. I admired the main character, and the atmosphere was accordingly interpreted.
I gave it five out of five stars on Goodreads. I think everyone should read a novel like this at least once in their life because it honestly will change your view of the world.
