This was a heartwarming story about familial history, the struggles with identity, grief, the nuances of migration and most of all love. This book was not only an excellent YA romance but it was also ver informative. I was reintroduced to a history I only knew a small bit about and also exposed to the rich culture of Saigon and it's street food. It was very eye-opening to see the different perspectives of these characters as Vietnamese people.
The theme of love was greatly interwoven within this story. We explored self-love, romantic love, familial love and the love one feels for a place they call home or have come to adore. Overall it was a very thought provoking story 4.75⭐️
