This felt like a book I should have enjoyed more than I did. But, I had a difficult time liking any of the characters, until the book was almost finished. There were

a couple of reversals that shifted my opinions of characters substantially. It felt to me like the author kept hidden information that would have helped me accept some characters for the sake of the plot

. I understand that, to an extent, but it left me

disliking characters I should have been able to empathize with sooner

, and frustrated my enjoyment of this book at times.
