Stuart Turton is an auto-read for me. His ideas are always just so amazing and different and make me wonder how he comes up with these things and this was no exception. I loved this so much even if some explanations are a bit hand-wavey. Emory was such a great character (I pictured her like the daughter in The Croods, lol). Her relationships were all so well done and I’m so glad at where things ended for her. The murder mystery was bizarre and twisty and I loved it. The mysteries of the island and the fog were great. Like I said, some of the explanations and how things are revealed don’t quite work. I guessed a few things, including the killer, but I was so happy to be along for the ride I don’t even really care. Such a good story and concept and characters.
