Hogfather is just the most comforty of comforty reads, it's a winter hug of a book, as DEATH takes on the role of Hogfather in their own rather special way. It's warm hearted, funny, imaginative, and chocked full of well drawn memorable characters from Susan and her grandfather right down to more minor players such as Ridcully, the Death of Rats, and the brilliantly funny Quoth with their anti-Robin agenda.

Pratchett has more outright hilarious books and books with deeper social commentary running through them but for straight up comfort value the Hogfather is perfect, and its central theme reflecting on the nature of belief is wonderfully done.
