4.5

  • after escaping her mob-involved family's influence and living a whole life in nyc and la, honey returns to her hometown in nj to live out her remaining years, finding that she has much more life to live
  • i really loved this, maybe especially because i've been thinking a lot about aging recently and being afraid of my life becoming stagnant, of missing the boat on doing things that i want to do
  • it feels like there are so few books with elderly protagonists so it was really refreshing to read about honey's life, the scope of it, the things she got to do in her past and how much was still in front of her
  • just lots of really really good character work
  • the author also did a great job of handling the time jumps between honey's past and present, everything flowed smoothly
  • the ending had me crying like a baby
