Sneak Peek for Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab
5.0
While only the first 100 pages, this preview has me so excited to read the full thing.
It’s reminiscent of “By Any Other Name” but more compelling, and much more introspection and depth to the characters.
I love that the writing of the 2019 Alice’s POV perfectly captures her anxiety and headspace by including lots of parenthesis, asides, and Em-dashes. You’re immediately pulled into the dreaminess of it all, both wanting for the present and floating back to memories.
As for Maria’s storyline, there is a yearning and fight that she’s struggling with.
I’m not sure where it’s all going (I’m avoiding reading the back cover!) but I’m excited to learn what happens next, especially after absolutely loving The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, also by this author (a 5/5 read).
