tough one to rate… I wanted to love this so much because I looooved the auction, but I think this is a really flawed adaptation. probably because of the process of adapting a fanfiction is flawed in general. the worldbuilding was really interesting!! the magic system is cool and the political intrigue works. I felt horror at the situation of the women but not for the women themselves because… I have no connection to the characters because this isn’t a fanfic where I have an established relationship. toooo many goddamn names and no connection to them. but the briony/toven relationship does shine. looooove the pansy character and parental units Malfoy(I cannot for the life of me remember their new names). the characters that actually get development really shine!!! turning voldemort into a woman really did not work. it adds a sociopolitical dimension that the story is just not prepared to answer. i’m excited to read the rest, but honestly i think i’d have a better time if I just read the auction again.
