I am reviewing this volume with the  enefit of having read the entire series in it's serialized form.

This volume serves as an introduction to Shiraishi and Kubo, two students on the opposite sides of the social spectrum. Shiraishi is a literally almost invisible wallflower, but Kubo daily sees him and uses the opportunity to tease and flirt with him -- Kubo won't let won't let him be invisible! But why? Is she making fun of him? Starting a friendship? Or is it something more than that...?
