Dream On by Angie Hockman

At the cottage this weekend I just really wanted an easy read, something to escape into. I randomly selected Dream On from my e-reader because the cover was delightfully cute and appeared pretty low stakes. This one delivered a cute rom com filled with flowers and an engaging plot. After a car accident, Cass wakes up from a coma with many memories of her boyfriend Devin Bloom. She quickly finds out that actually there is no boyfriend. She’s shaken, her memories are so vivid. When she runs into him months & months later, they end up hitting it off.. is it fate?

I wasn’t a fan of Shipped, this author’s debut romance. Dream On felt a lot more original to me, with a fresh premise and likeable characters. I really enjoyed all the cutesy details, like the flower shop setting and resident dog. This read like a cheesy movie in all the best ways.

There’s a few things I really disliked I wanted to mention. There’s a plot line involving a fake pregnancy that was really unnecessary and may be really hurtful to many readers. I also felt the epilogue was really off the mark, as it didn’t fit the tone of the rest of the book, with a jarring steamy scene and rapid resolution to the plot.

Overall, I liked this romance but could have done without the epilogue and the fake pregnancy. For when you’re in the mood for a reads-like-movie book
