Always Practice Safe Hex by Juliette Cross

5.0

Ms. Juliette Cross did not disappoint! I LOVE THIS BOOK. It deserves all the stars!

TW:
Spoiler Rape, Sexual Assault, Child Neglect, Issues about consent

Though I love this book, I didn't enjoy Livvy's character as much as the other Savioe sisters. Nothing's wrong with her, but I feel like the book was unable to highlight her characteristics as much as the other books did for her sisters. A big part of that is probably because this book focused more on grims and of Gareth Blackwater, which I didn't mind at all, that's why it's still a 5-star read for me.

This book is so beautifully and brilliantly done. I've read a couple of books that feature grims, but never in this way. Their ancestry and power were woven so intricately that as a reader, I am just continuously blown away page by page.

In terms of the love story, it was okay. Somehow, it felt quite insta-love because there weren't much foundation to how they developed their feelings for each other. I love every thought and notion that Gareth has in terms of love and being loved, especially after knowing his childhood, you'd understand why he is the way that he is. And what it all means for him.

Practice Safe Hex is such a good addition to the series. It's different and refreshing because it's a lot darker than the other books, which I think is pretty fitting, especially since we're dealing with a grim.

I love this book and this series! Definitely my favorite paranormal romance series of all time! I can't wait to read the last two books, though I'm less thrilled about Jules' story the most. I'd much prefer to read Clara's book first, but based on the preview I've seen in Practice Safe Hex, Jules' will be next, which means Clara's book will close the entire series.

If you haven't picked this book or this series up yet, please do! You will not regret it.
