This book is the stunning story of families, and the complex relationships within and between them.
We follow a mother-daughter duo who move into a small conservative town, onto a house rented out by a complex family with many issues and children. It also follows the plot of a custody battle connected to these families.
I loved how this book was formatting, and though it could be confusing at times, the way the story was told through multiple perspectives and timelines was so interesting to me. I loved how complex each character was, how you couldn't help but sympathize with and dislike every single character over the course of the book. Izzy in particular was a favourite of mine, but of course so was Mia
I also thought this book grappled with racism in such a subtle yet powerful way that I hope the message will reach and impact a larger audience that would previously be semi-unaffected. I really enjoyed it
PG-13
