Cemetery Boys
by Aiden Thomas
This is one of those books that just had me marathoning it in as close to one sitting as possible. It is absolutely worth the hype. The author never over-explains the Spanish parts like they're writing with an Anglophone, monolingual audience in mind, which was a real breath of fresh air. I did keep parsing "Brujx" as "Brujes" because I tend to lean towards the -e suffix the Chilean side of the family endorses for describing gender neutrality, but it's from an American author and set in LA, so it's kind of a tomato-tomato thing. Or maybe closer to a color-colour thing. It 100% did not detract from the story, I am just being a language nerd.
I think I managed to anticipate the ending by only about a chapter, which is amazing. I'm definitely looking forward to Aiden Thomas's next book!
