I'm not even sure where to begin. At first, I enjoyed some of the mini stories that make up this book. There were a few threads I'll most likely explore. Then I started to note a pattern: this book is silicon valley stereotype out of touch me culture in a nutshell.

The more I read, the more navel gazing the book felt. It's filled with some uplifting stories and many of them quickly slide into, at best, humble brag new age tech BS. As someone in the tech field, I do see this attitude. A lot. It's not limited to silicon valley at all and it's very much a bubble with self fulfilling feedback cycles.

Years from now, some anthropology researcher will use this book to describe why the early 21st century burned due to valuing money/self over society.

As a total aside I loved 4 hour work week. It's a classic. I have a ton of respect for the vast majority of people in this book. However the sum of the parts made me ... Sad for humanity.
