Blood, Metal, Bone
by Lindsay Cummings
This is one of those books that ended up making mix feelings for me. It has its good sides but it also has its bad side. It's not that great but it's not that bad either.
I have to admit I really like the idea plot and the way it explain the world building is pretty easy to understand. The writing might repetitive as the story goes, but at least for me it's still tolerable. The pacing might felt a bit slow at first but it started to pick up in the middle of the story until the end. I really like the characters especially the main female heroine, Sonara. I really love her relationship with her horse, Jaxon and especially her brother.
However, I kind of lost interest a little bit despite it having a strong start. I have to say the author doesn't blend both genre (fantasy and sci-fi) in a smooth way. One chapter you're a bastard princess in one kingdom then the next one the setting changes to a spaceship and talks about sci-fi technology. The changes between each chapter is too drastic and can get quite confusing at first.
But, if you can manage to get through the first part of the book, I think the rest of the part is really interesting. The story started to explain lot of things about the Shadowbloods and how it connects with the whole sci-fi technology. After that I kind of started to love the setting and the whole world-building. I think it's fascinating.
Some of you might also feel this book predictable however I can still enjoy the storyline.
Overall, it's pretty good and I quite enjoy my time reading this book. I find it interesting and curious to find out if there would be a continuation from this book.
