Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

4.0

i have too much to say for a little review but Basically:
- obvs a very uncomfortable subject matter and i had to push through the first little bit
- the language is beautiful like everyone says, but it found it tedious sometimes. i am not a fan of overly flowery ever tbh
- the second half/travel sections dragged a bit also why did he keep writing in FRENCH
- HOWEVER the contents of the writing, structure, characterisation etc was clearly genius and i want to re-read at some point and really get into the details
- HH is v cleverly done, im a bit concerned for people that seem to think we’re meant to like him or be on his side ! we’re not!!

i wouldn’t usually give something where i had issues with it 4 stars but something feels wrong about giving it any less??
