This was very strange.

T. Kingfisher offers up a retelling of "The Fall of the House of Usher".

Alex Easton, a Gallacian military officer, has come to the home of their friends, Maddy and Roderick Usher, after receiving a letter that spoke of illness.

Once there, on the edge of a strange, murky, tarn it's clear that something more sinister a simple illness is going on.

The kind of horror used here is, I think, body horror.  I don't get creeped out by horror much but this book made me itch.

The setting is isolated and foreboding, and the characters are likeable and at times a little silly. The plot moves along at a decent pace.

Overall, I dont really know if I liked this or not, or if it just unsettled me (which is what it was supposed to do).
