A Touch of Ruin
by Scarlett St. Clair
This book had really rough reviews, so I was surprised that I actually enjoyed it as much as I did. Yes, it's frustrating to feel like we're going backwards in Hades & Persephone's relationship. The first novel ended in a way that felt settled. It felt like they were on solid ground. Then suddenly in this book it seems like they're fighting their way back to that place for most of the novel. No, I didn't love that aspect of this book. I sincerely hope they are more unified throughout Book 3 because that storyline is only satisfying for a limited amount of time. That said, I enjoyed getting more storyline from other characters. I actually cared about Lexa and her journey in this novel. I found myself lighting up every time Hermes was in a scene...I kind of want to be friends with him! And I really liked learning more about Apollo. But at the end of the day, this is a romance novel and there are lot of very steamy sex scenes. If that's not your cup of tea, you should avoid this one. But if you read the first book you are prepared for that aspect of this one!
