I wanted to like this, I really did. I read every page of it, which is an achievement in itself. I just found it very very overwrought for my taste, lost in its own screed of meandering, endless science metaphors and detailed descriptions of Bach piano pieces and DNA protein strings. When you get down to it, I just found it really hard to care about anything that was happening in the book.
