Lust by Eva Charles

5.0

'Antonio and Daniela are back with a bang! Literally and in more ways than one. Be ready for everything to be taken to the next level with 'Lust'.

Thank you to Greys Promotions for providing me with an ebook Advanced Readers Copy for me to read and leave an honest review.

The wait was worth it for the second instalment in Eva Charles' 'A Sinful Empire Trilogy', 'Lust'. As I pointed out in my review for book one, 'Greed', I don't usually sign up for books that have a cliffhanger--with a book to conclude the HEA in the future--, or that are clearly a part of a series. This series however, is an exception. After reading the series' description via Grey's Promotions, I knew this was a series I was wanting to invest in and be a part of for the long haul. It's dark, sinful nature appealed to my bookish curiosities and after Greed, I was hooked!

Lust picks up where Greed left off--don't worry, this isn't a spoiler--, and Greed left us all with our mouth's agog. For a cliffy, Eva left the story paused in a good place where I was both chomping at the bit to see the reaction and continuation of the scene where Greed ended, but content at the same time. I wasn't infuriated that it was left there, but instead was left 'oohing' and pleasantly impatient for it to continue. A juxtaposition if ever there was one, but I'm living for the storyline and where the constant twists and turns are taking Antonio, Daniela and those around them and there's a lot of people around them, as per the nature of Antionio's line of work.

As much as I wanted to make this book last, like Antonio, I devoured the goods in no time at all. Lust took me less than a day to finish from when I picked it up on my kindle app and if a book can keep me intrigued and engaged, finding it quite literally impossible to put down, that is the telltale hallmark of a good book and make no mistake, Lust was good in all the 'bad' ways. Wink wink. Drama and action aside (and believe me, there was that in spades to go around and wow was it good!), Antonio took things to beyond the next level for him and Daniela, with steam literally coming out of my screen from what was going on across the pages. Hot with a capital 'H'!

The genre that Lust--and Greed- are set in is one that is being explored by many a writer and where I am finding quite a few that toe the line with the same or similar storylines, that is not the case here with Eva and this series. Lust is a credit to a series which for me has fast become a favourite of mine, and has restored faith for me personally within this genre that there can be unique and jaw-dropping reads out there, without the worry of monotony or a less than slow burn storyline.

I'm proud to announce that Lust joins Greed in the growing list of my top reads of 2022. Eva, you should be proud that you've written a series that has been unforgettable from the first book's first page, and that will stay with me for many weeks, months and maybe even perhaps, years to come. I'm thrilled to be a reader of yours, and I hope to continue following your future releases as long as your talented fingers keep hitting those keys!

Five stars for Lust, and for Antonio, Daniela and Eva Charles!
