For the Wolf
by Hannah Whitten
I had to downgrade my rating from a 3 to 2 star. Almost DNF.. 1- this is NOT a little red riding hood retelling. Not even close. 2- slight similarities to beauty and the beast. 3- slllllooooowwwwww burn amounted to one anticlimactic scene.
I feel like the author cheaply threw in nods to fairy tales that served no point. It’s a bit hard to follow. I still don’t understand what makes the kings the villains in this story. Everything was so vague it was just annoying to try to follow. I had so much hope for this story and then it just got repetitive and really went nowhere. I skimmed the last 50 pages- skipped the epilogue.
I do love the cover and the raw page edges. But otherwise, terribly disappointing.
