Cassandra in Reverse
by Holly Smale
I picked up this book not really looking at what it was about directly after reading Fern Brady’s memoir about her life before & after her autism diagnosis. How random (or not) that I would read these two books one after the other completely unaware of the content.
I love a bit of magical realism & that’s why I picked up this book. I enjoyed it, quite a bit, but I’m also sad & angry now. While this book is fiction, the way that the MC is treated for being different is very real. There is no such thing in this world as “normal” - we all need to let our freak flags fly & embrace our weird ♥️
