The Kindest Lie
by Nancy Johnson
This is another book that I really enjoyed till the end. I don’t know how to feel about it! I guess I feel let down?
I felt very emotionally involved with the characters- I kept crying while reading it in public and I’d even cry more when I thought about it later. I especially felt sad for Midnight, whose mom is dead and dad is too emotionally damaged by grief to care for him anymore. Maternal abandonment is a major theme in the book.
