Gives the illusion that finding a significant other is the cure all for depression. Simply not true, and just because you're a YA novel doesn't mean you're required to have a teenage love affair in your book. Interesting premise, but poorly executed. The Proust quote sums up the entirety of the book, and the romantic relationship sullies the overall experience lessening depression to the point where its insulting.
