The Kingdom of Copper
by S.A. Chakraborty
adventurous
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven:
A mix
Why did nahri swindle her mark, doesn't say
Darker version - describes the dark things people do for war
Dara tries to be good but can't - dragged into bad things
People get too upset at words, not that deep when muntadhir insults Ali about nahri etc
Dara's magic doesn't really make sense, how can he conjure clothes for people and make horses with wings
History of alizayd is interesting, killed his wife by accident
Good outlook into war and how everyone does atrocious things
Nice to see the warring emotions in Ali - how he wants a simple life and how he wants to improve the kingdom
Great backdrop to the story of war hurting everyone and everyone wanting vengeance
Ali is very torn, interesting character, not just one dimensional but obvious how his morals hurt others around him
Characters not that believable when Ghassan dies then they carry on with their task - they're only kids
Why does Ali randomly have strong water magic?
Why is nahri so strong in magic cuz of her ancestors?
