Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare

This is my first book from Cassie Claire and I really enjoyed the writing style and the setup for the plot. Victorian London and mysterious fantasy world is something that goes hand in hand all the time in my mind. The amixture of these elements brought such an edge to the narrative, the world itself is quite intriguing and unique from what I have read thus far, I had understood why this book has such an immense cult following. I know I am pretty late to the party but I wish I’d read the book a decade ago and had the experience of it thrill me, the characters are as mysterious as the world is and certain twists made me straighten up while reading. I have read quite a few books now but I can remember the exact scene that would blow me away, there is one such scene in this but I can’t reveal it without spoilers.

While I enjoyed most part of my read I had qualms with everything being incomplete? I understand the author’s aim is to put in a compelling tension where you want to know more but the curtains are drawn down before you could catch a glimpse, however it gets too much after a while as she continues this trend up until last page. While it leaves you wanting for more it can also get frustrating for the reader not letting them into subplots or to the character depths.

There are also certain aspects that didn’t make sense as they weren’t explained but I don’t want to draw conclusions on it because there are two more books in this series. It is certainly not a disappointing read , Indeed this is a great “Introductory” book to a potentially good series because it has all the elements to become a massive hit which I guess it already is.I hope the next two books live up to my expectations.
