This book felt like a warm hug!! It wasn’t as compelling as Every Summer After, but perhaps that was intentional. Every Summer After was a rollercoaster of emotions and heartbreak. I think this was Carley Fortune’s love letter to the lake — at least that’s what it felt like.  That slow feeling of contentment washed over me like the ebbing waves of a lake. I could smell the pine trees in the air and feel myself rocking back and forth on the dock. It was purely picturesque. It took me a bit to get invested in this book. The premise is of course very different from Every Summer After, and most second-chance romances. But I loved it. I loved how Fern came to grips with her mother’s death and the grief that wrecked her. I loved how this was a slow slow sloooooow burn for Will and Fern who, evidently, both had to find their own way back to themselves before they could find each other. I loved the humanness of this book. And I liked that there wasn’t any cheating!!!!
