Chasing Perfect was an enjoyable read. It wasn't my favorite of the series, but it wasn't my least favorite either. I did like both Charity and Josh and watching them get together.
Charity moves to Fool's Gold to be the new city planner. She falls in love with the town and wants to put down roots. Growing up she was always moving from place to place with her mom and she wants stability now. Maybe a nice, good guy. Not the flashy bad boy like her mom always fell for. Not the kind of guy who made her mom move them yet again when things didn't work out.
Josh has inner demons he is struggling with. He was a pro cyclist, but after an accident where a team mate died he cannot ride in a group anymore. He blames himself, and also is terrified that he will be next. After his wife left him when he couldn't ride again he knows he is not good for anyone. He needs to fix himself before he can be with someone, before he will be deserving of someone else.
That was until he meets Charity. They are both drawn to the other, but both try to stay away since the other is not what they want. Charity doesn't want to be in the lime light. She just wants a nice, normal stable family life. Josh doesn't think he deserves Charity. Neither can ignore how drawn they are to the other person. They were great together and Charity really sees Josh. She tries to help him with his demons. Of course everything works out in the end, but getting there was fun to read. The ending, where Charity lays down an ultimatum then realizes her mistake, was alright. I am glad she finally took the time to think about everything from Josh's point of view and realize he needed to do what he needed to do. Only then could he feel whole enough to be with her. It was a cute read. Now on to the next Fool's Gold book!
