The Starlight Barking by Janet Grahame-Johnstone, Dodie Smith, Anne Johnstone

3.0

I found this book to be good but moderately disappointing as compared to 101 Dalmatians.

The premise of the book is intriguing with all living creatures in the world but dogs are fast asleep and can’t be woken and the dogs all have strange metaphysical powers. But it felt very poorly executed and for a majority of the book it was kind of a drag to read about. Parts of the book also didn’t age too well especially with Missis still being the less intelligent dog because she’s female.

The book was still reminiscent of 101 Dalmatians in the sense that it has the complicated society of dogs and how they view the world and people.

The scifi element of the book was interesting but at the same time felt very shoehorned in and not the best execution however I did enjoy reading about it and the dogs reaction and decision to it.

Overall 3.5/5 stars.
